ABOUT LANKA WITNESS
Editorial Policy
Our reporting is guided by evidence, attribution, fairness and the public interest.
Evidence before assertion
Lanka Witness seeks to separate fact, allegation, analysis and opinion. Government statements, opposition statements and claims by any political actor are attributed rather than treated as established fact without supporting evidence.
Sources and right of response
Original analysis should identify its important sources. Where a person or institution is criticised on a material factual issue, Lanka Witness aims to provide a meaningful opportunity for response.
Corrections and headlines
Corrections are made when material factual errors are identified. Headlines should accurately reflect the substance of the article and should not manufacture certainty that the evidence does not support.
